If you obtained Eligibility in the Statewide Context (http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/state_eligibility.html ) you will be guaranteed admission to ONE UC campus (whichever campus that has space). It may be possible to be rejected by Riverside or Merced, but you will be admitted to a campus one way or the other.

If you are assured of getting into SOME UC, then I doubt that you would be rejected by both Merced and Riverside. While all the UC schools are great schools -- those are the two lowest rated UC schools.

It probably is depending on your grades, SATs, etc. But these UCs are some of the easiest to get into because they are so new. If you have decent grades and scores, you should probably be fine.
