Definitely more than ever now for the simple fact that times have changed so much through the years in terms of the color of someone's skin, female empowerment and double standards. People now are breaking down the barriers trying to reach the impossible. I think Americans have learned so much from history and turn what they've learned into something great. Now the world is so much more competitive than ever before. Its hard to get a great paying job without a degree and the experience to back it up. With African Americans they too have joined this competitve pool of people to become better than what they were almost forced to be in past decades or even in the current environments they live in. The same with women. They don't want to be the stay at home wife anymore with all the kids just sitting there looking pretty. They want a career, they don't mind being the bread winner and they sure as hell don't mind running things anymore. I don't think this change is bad, but you must face the facts- a large part of our country does have a problem with a black president and a female president, especially in the white house and senates. I just hope that whoever gets this chance of presidency does their job well regardless of gender or race.

This is exactly why America is in so much trouble. It elects candidates based on diversity! The US president fills his cabinet based on diversity! America needs the best people it can get and diversity should have absolutely nothing to do with it! Example: Colin Powell should have been the Republicans choice for president based on past history, intelligence, military expertise, professionalism, etc...etc...Electing George W. Bush just because his skin color is white is clearly horseshit! He had no brains, no common sense, no professionalism, no manners, and looks like Simon Bar Sinister on the cartoons! The only thing he did have was money, but if money was the answer to who should be president, Bill Gates would & should be voted in! There are to many individuals elected or selected on the basis of diversity! We need leadership regardless if they are all the same sex or color!

Because the Republicans have put themselves in such a hopeless position, that now was never a better time for the Dems to take a chance. They way it looks now, Vladimir Putin could run and win against the Republicans.

Where finally coming of age. It happens to be the right place at the right time . Voters for the most part have decided not to use gender and race as criteria for choosing a president.

It's happening now because the time is right for America to "come of age." The US is growing up and females and Blacks have importance in our country, Finally.
Of the two, one will be Prez and the other Vice Prez.

I HAVE BEEN VOTING FOR MANY YEARS. I HAVE NEVER FELT COMFORTABLE WITH MY CHOICES. I JUST VOTE FOR THE INDIVIDUALS I FEEL ARE LYING THE LEAST,HOLD MY NOSE AND PULL THE LEVER. IF I EVER KNOW OF A CANDIDATE WHO WRITES AND DELIVERS A SPEECH BETTER THAN THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS AND MEANS IT I WOULD FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE WHOLE DAM IDIOTIC CHOICES WE ARE ALWAYS GIVEN. I REALLY HAVE NO CONCERN ABOUT WHICH OF THEM THINKS THEIR GOD IS THE BIGGEST, OR ALL THE GREAT THINGS THAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO FOR US WHICH THEY PROMPTLY FORGET RIGHT AFTER THE ELECTION. SEX AND COLOR HAVE NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE FOR ME.

It is no secret the struggles of women and blacks through the years of getting to this point, when at one time in our not so distant history, they weren't even allowed to vote.
