Good question! I am putting a link to an online working mom's magazine, and I will mention some things people I know have done or I have done myself

Web page design
Graphic design
Grant writing
Translation
Crafts/ Clothing etc. A friend of mine started a kids clothing business from home. She meets w/ buyers & visit shops; and sells from a booth at arts & crafts fairs but she takes the kids to fairs.
Home School/Tutoring: If you have experience as a schoolteacher and /or are very knowledgeable in some area & good at transpiring your knowledge to kids, other parents might pay you to teach their kids too....either to just totally home school them along with their own, or maybe in just one subject that is your forté like math, foreign language, art, etc.

Charity organizational/phone/clerical work. Just as an example, another mother I know got a (paid) job supervising/organizing the Meals on Wheels delivery in her local community. (MOW is an organization that delivers free hot meals to elderly and disabled people)

Transcription (legal depositions, interviews for documentaries, oral history collections, etc. ) This is good work if you are fast & accurate & have a good ear...it is not easy but good transcribers can make pretty decent pay.

Proofreading. You have to have a great eye for detail & access to style manuals/knowledge of rules of styles. If you live near a college campus, you may be able to get a fair amount of work proofreading term papers etc

Cataloguing & Indexing (yeah humans actually still do some of this work better). For this kind of work you would probably need experience and/or a degree in library & information science or a related field WIth digitization it is even possible to catalog video collections from home

******************************************************************
Realistic Expectations.....
Some expectant moms have unrealistic fantasies about how much they are going to get accomplished working while staying at home with their little angels. Especially once your infant turns into a very mobile toddler it can be difficult to get a lot of sustained work done on the computer and still give enough attention to your child(ren).
If you work for a company and are asking for a work-at-home arrangement, it is probably better to cut down the amount of work for which you are responsable even though that means a pay cut. If it turns out you can do more later, you could change your deal with your employer. This will go over much better than if you promise to do just as much as you did before and then you can't deliver and keep missing deadlines. That will also make it harder for the next parent who asks for a work-at-home gig

*****Be careful ***** there are quite a few scams aimed at moms looking to work from home If they make big promises and want you to invest in something, run the other way! Also check out & makes sure you're not getting into anything illegal

Anything to do with a computer usually works... maybe start an online business with something you can make or know where you can get a lot of...

Or get your daycare license and bring a few kids into your home. if you are at home already why not add a few more to make the time pass faster and a little money in return...
