Well, of course, we all do, if indeed, we are truly human. Although, there are those who see nothing but green dollars floating in their faces so therefore, the human part, can quickly fade when money becomes the target goal.
Our society is built on who has the most these days and not how good or bad, we as humans feel about it. Those of us who still care about other humans, are the ones who stop and give help when not asked for it and also, kindly and freely give to the those in need of help, without thought of repayment.
I wish the same thing, about being more human. Humanism, is slowly becoming not important and unfortunately, we as a society are just letting it happen. We as a society, must come to realize, that each of us are an integral part, of the very existence of our world. If, we continue, to ignore the human element in and around our lives, by pushing aside the need for compassion and understanding of each persons basic needs, then we will surely, ever more quickly continue to erase the very basic part of our own human evolution and that is thevery difficult task, of making our world a proper place for humans to exist and most importantly, the very survival of the human species, on an ever changing planet. The search for peace, equality and the allowance of each and every human on this planet to live safely, be treated fairly, to have the foods necessary for quality health and have a decent home to live in, should be a political priority, unfortunately, it is not, due to the, need of politicians to bow to religious groups and corporations, who practically own our lives and most of the world. If corporations were made up of more people who actually cared about the whole human population and not how much money is in their huge banks, which they usually own then, what the world has would be more abundantly used for human benefit and not just one group or individual. What I mean is simply this, what is produced or grown or manufactured, could be used equally and fairly, for the benefit of everyone. There would be no more hardship or cruelties dealt to anyone. Also, money would not be an issue, nor would we need it. Our world, at this time unfortunately, is based on the value of our check books, and not our best human qualities.
I understand completely your question. Where is the heart of our country, if it is not beating for us and the world, as a whole? It unfortunately, is slowly being turn into a heart of stone, by the greed, pushed on each of us, every time, that we have to save money for groceries, to feed our children.

I don't think you need therapy. At all. I can completely relate with EVERYTHING you've talked about. I've done the same things you have and - just like you - I can't get over how he was such an amazing person and I also feel like I haven't appreciated him throughout my life. I think the cause is actually the media. Notice how much attention they've been giving him. There are tributes and stories about him all over the news, websites, TV shows, etc. So what I suggest is trying to... well, ignore all of it. Go outside, hang out with friends, do anything to avoid the stories, because they'll just make you more and more depressed. You just need to get away from it all for a bit. It worked for me. And soon you'll realize that his legacy lives on through his music and the people he touched and, in a way, he really didn't die after all. I hope I've helped a little. Take care! :)

Whilst i would tend to agree with your general persuasion, and certainly society has become something abhorrent due to predatory capitalism and globalization what with the exploitation of the third world, if you look back in time, when can you really say that society has ever been ideal? Back when the Royals had complete control and pillage and taxed the *** off of everything whilst providing little or no public service? I could go on but if you follow my argument after much deliberation and personal anguish over the whole subject i have found that whatever the situation a society is in, it is within ones own being that one can find happiness and it is as a result of our very existance. Even in the most hardest circumstances one can find joy and acceptance and ultimately forgiveness for those who perpatrate such misguidedness and negativity that might seek to deny someone their own well being.
I am not referring to anything religious, Christian, Buddhist, or atheist or secular or communist or capitalist. Just merely what i have found to be true for me in my own experience. So in relevance to your comment/question yes society is become hard and cold and individuals more isolated and disillusioned, but you cannot affect that, it is your mission, your lifes work to bring the warmth of humanity to the world in your very own everyday experience and trust me that is where it will be most effective. There are others like you.
hmm.. that wasnt totally relevant to your question. nevermind.

I think most feel the same as you. In large corporations and government the incompetent tend to rise to the top and the competent tend to get buried. Unfortunately most adapt to this depersonalization and become a unhappy and adapted individual just waiting out the next 20-30 years for their retirement when they can become "happy".
For now just realize that all relationships are just a game to be played. Try and get to know and appreciate your peers as best you can. They are human capable of emotions etc.
They are just scared and play the game as they see it. Everyone has some trait, knowledge or peculiarity that makes them special that you can learn from. Try and find out what this is.
For the future keep looking for better opportunities as an employee in a small company or self employed. Whatever you do, do not think you are superior and never burn your bridges as it is amazing how people just keep crossing paths and can be an asset later in life.
Hope this helps.

It is easier to set hard rules and try to force people into them then to accept the individual quirks of people.
When a corporation has hundreds or thousands of employees to deal with it is impossible to try and see each one as an individual. There are just too many people, and most people tend to be self centered.
It is easy to say "But I NEED something" or "Why can't they look at me as an individual" but actually doing so would destroy efficiency and would put a lot of people out of work.
I'm not saying that it is a good thing... But when you look at the numbers you can start to understands why this has happened.
Even running a small business can be hell and dehumanize the individual... The day in and day out paperwork and BS with taxes and permits and customers...
I have gotten to the point now that even though I only have a few employees I just don't care if "You" want to leave early because you need to do something... You accepted the dispatch and you need to stay and do whatever the customer tells you to do.
I had one employee that decided that since he was going on vayca the next day he would not only go half the speed of the other trucks but he would mouth off to the machine operator and then leave after only half a day!! WITHOUT CALLING ANYONE OR TELLING ANYONE!
We lost a very lucrative customer due to this employee's disrespect and when we confronted him about it he said "Who cares! I had stuff to do!"
He ruined the situation for everyone because now I keep iron fisted control on EVERYONE and have had to threaten suspension or termination for minor offences because I will not let the same type of situation happen ever again...
This ONE person's action has caused a crack down on the responsibilities and freedom of everyone at the company.
If HE had not been so self-centered then we would all be going along with a much freer attitude but he showed me that when you give an employee too much respect and freedom it comes back to bite you in the butt.
I can't imagine how much worse it must be for corporations with more then 10 employees!!!!
If just 10% of the employees of Kraft decided that they have "Stuff to do" then that means the shut down of the company!
IT IS VERY EASY TO SAY THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO BE AN INDIVIDUAL BUT WHAT YOU DON'T COMPREHEND IS THAT MOST PEOPLE, TO BE HONEST, ARE JUST TOO STUPID TO BE ALLOWED SUCH FREEDOMS...
They can't grasp that their actions or inactions have a HUGE effect on everything else that happens around them!!
If you don't hold people to the same standards then it is anarchy...
Now, the day that we all pull our heads from where they are currently wedged I will change my opinion on this...
But until that day it is a pipe dream to be used in anti-corporate rants and political speeches.

It is hard to find good help, so don't be discouraged if the person you are dealing with is not helpful. Try talking to the boss and be persistant, the squeeky wheel gets the grease. If the situation is really bad, you might consult a lawyer to see what your rights are.
