depends. if they convey the same emotion that the song is meant to, then why not. if they try to remake it or just arent into it like they should be, then it ruins the song.

They shouldn't do it. It's just wrong. Those songs are a part of black culture, and when a white person sings it, it's just demeaning. Other minorities shouldn't sing black spirituals either because it's not a part of our culture, though somehow it seems more wrong when white people do it - probably because of their history with blacks. It just seems disrespectful unless you're married to someone black and share in their culture through that.
