My parents house has a furnace and downstairs stays warm. However, my room gets cold and it's really hard to concentrate on studying for my college when it's cold.
My room is about 10' X 10'. Will the electric ceramic heater effect the electric bill by much? I don't plan to have the heater on 24/7. I just need to use it when I need to study.
Here is the specs. of the heater.
High: 1500 watts and 5118 BTUs
Low: 900 watts and 3070 BTUs

I only plan to leave it on until the room is warm. Then turn it off. Probably no more than 3 hrs a day.

It depends where you live. power costs vary anywhere from about 8c to about 20c a kWh. Although you do give the power rating, it will be "off" for some of the time because of the thermostat depending how cold it is.
Since I can only estimate, I'll use 15c a unit and assume 50% on time at full power (1500w). 0.75kwh each hour, so 10c per hour. 40hours per week is $4 a week ($16 per month)
Now if its math or engineering you are studying, you should have been able to do that calculation yourself.

Do the math: 3/4 of a day is 18 hours times 1500 watts equals 27 kw hours. Now the rate may be ten cents a kwh so that would cost $2.70 per day or $81.00 per month

what does a KW (kilowatt) run for your electric company?
on every bill - shows a breakdown
you use.9 (point 9) per hour on low and 1.5/hr on high
so - 10-15 cents an hour I would bet - \
\but you are worth it!
good luck with your studies

Please conside halogen based room heaters or oil based room heaters to save electricity bill.
Halogen are cheaper but won't work for large room, multiple people, and not child safe.
Oil based room heaters works best for large rooms, multiple people, all nigh long usage and child safe.
Only con of oli based heaters is they are very costly around 10,000 Rs.
finally, select best room heaters using our zelect selection tools at http://www.zelect.in/room-heater
