After you get a job in city that's say 300 miles away how do you move there? Do you live in a hotel at $90 per night until you find an apartment? How can you find an apartment if you're working all day?

Your suggestion is one, but an expensive one at that! Use the Internet for the city or town you are going to. Check out that city's Chamber of commerce, and on-line apartments for rent. If you already have a potential employer there, ask them for some suggestions, and phone numbers. I would suggest taking a 4 day weekend ( if you are still in another job at your present location). Stay in a local hotel/motel for a day or three. Use the local phone books, and local newspaper to scope out prices and locations of apartments ( stick with 6 months to a year).
If the people you plan on working for have any class, they will understand and probably give you some time to get settled in. If they don't work with you, you may want to reconsider if they are worth working for! If you plan on taking all of your worldly possessions in a U-Haul, then you may have to rent a storage facility, until you are set up, or store your stuff at your present location until you are settled in. Either way it will be somewhat of a hassle in the beginning, and may cost you a few bucks. This is the down-side of relocating. GL!

Believe it or not, it is possible to shop for homes from great distances. From your computer no less. You can do a search for the city or cities in the region to which you are planning to move. Mapquest.com is a great place to do this. For example, suppose you were moving to the Denver, Colorado area. Go to mapquest.com and enter the city and state in the address line. Above the map displayed and also to the right you will find Online Offers. These include real estate offerings. You could also do a search for local real estate agents at anywho.com, and employ the services of a local agent to look for properties for you. They can probably send photographs of the homes to your e-mail address for your inspection. Then, when you find something of interest, you can make arrangements to go take a look at it in person. These sorts of arrangements can be discussed with your agent. Good luck!

Find a place before you go. Apartments have vacancies all the time so when you go to apply for a job look at apartments. If everything you own fits in your car you could stay in a motel but mostly you will want to find a place the day you have the moving truck.

You don't actually have to be there to find an apartment. Figure out the area you need to be in and search apartments in the area. Once you decide on an apartment you can have the complex fax you over the application. They will do everything on their end, as long as you have a job you'll be fine. Once you move up there just go to the office and get the keys.

A professional has a motel until he can buy/rent a new house. If you can befriend a fellow worker he may put you up so help with the costs.

- some employers help you find housing, check with them.
- if not, fly out ahead of time and try to find something affordable before you have to be out there if you can.
- look up newspaper ads or internet ads to see if there is something ahead of time.
