it depends on the attitude of the receiver towards the answer. i personally wouldn't be insulted by such answer and why? what ppl think of me is their problem and not mine LOL

I think they were trying to be funny, in a way. The mullet is considered to be a very out of date hairstyle, but the phrasing of that answer suggests that the person who said it does not live somewhere where people actually still have mullets. So yeah it comes off as kind of insulting.

In all probablity, it was meant as an insult. Mullet is a fish or a spiny marine life so I would say in my opinion it is an insult for sure, but you can decide for yourself now.

I think they probably thought they were being witty. I suppose whether you should take offense depends on the question, the context, and your relationship to the person making the statement.

Needless to say, yes it does sound offensive. People take things so offensive in today's time, that we don't always realize everything isn't meant to be offensive.

It depends on the context. I would take as referring to the fact that we all have our little imperfections, but if they're not taken to the extreme they can be overlooked.

I guess that you could have took it that way, but then you could take someone saying that you have lovely big eyes the wrong way if you didn't quite know what they were meaning
