If so, for what reasons?

All the time.
There are times when I'm sort of tired of living in a society. Eventually, I'd like to spend a couple of years living in the wild (à la Thoreau) just to sort of clear my mind. I feel like I could do a lot more soul-searching without televisions and cars and people acting all the time.

Absolutely!!! I truly believe there are alot of people, in just our USA alone, that have thought about becoming a recluse. I have often thought, what would happen, if I just walked away, from everything I know and just let it all go. I know, missing things might become a problem, but altogether, it would be a nice time, because perhaps I could just be at peace and not worry about making everyone around me happy, all the time.

Tempting as it seem- this is the ideal way to escape from responsibilities.Alas,It never works!! The recluse (hermit) is seen as mad, or a social pariah. Very often they are artistic people with creative visions, and escapism provides release for that creative energy, but sometimes they are just plain crazy, sadists and serial killers plotting the next move. In the past alot of famous Artists, painters, Scientists have been loners-even old Einstein himself liked his own company. It didn't harm him! If you are the person in question here i would say you are going through some period of regression. This is healthy, and you need time alone to reassess periods of change in your life. If however, you find yourself becoming increasingly withdrawn and isolating friends and family, then this is not natural and could be depression. seek help! unless you are some creative mad man and isolation is an occupational hazard. good luck.

.....Yes,
Because I love peacefulness. I'm a creative person and I find that I have a lot of difficulty creating unless I am in a peaceful and quiet environment.
I get over-stimulated by people, I just posted a question the other day about wondering if you ever think you might be too "magnetic", I think I am, not in some silly conceited way, I just seem to draw in a lot of people, I am very out-going and energetic. However, I don't always want to be that way and I think people mistakenly assume that I am always willing to be that way.
Someday I'd like to move to Alaska, and live alone in a cabin, write a book, and I guess learn to fish? I'll have to eat and make a living someway until I get published, but once I do I'll go full force Hermit!

i've got grow to be tremendously reclusive. on the start I enjoyed it quite, yet now i'm tremendously lonley. definite I felt a great style of rejection "available" ranging from while i became into rather youthful and dependant on relatives. over the years, i've got made undesirable relationship possibilities yet might are transforming into harm the two way rather. breaking apart hurts at any time. in any case.. there are various motives and not each solitary individual needs to stay that way continuously. i think of i will go examine somewhat approximately Lucy now.

I don't think you just wake up and decide to be a recluse, it just kinda happens over the years without you realizing it until the end stages where you're all alone and hate people.

I needed to recluse myself in order to perfect my yoga practices. At the time I was too embroiled in social activities and too weak to evade all the distractions. Having done so was good for me as I was able to perfect my activities to a very satisfying level.

Yes, I have, mostly because it removes the constraints of having to deal with trivial social affairs that bother me to no ends, and because, in its most ideal state, it would allow me to live free from relying on technology, and allowing me to connect more with nature, and become more self-sufficient.

It's just a bit of a pipe dream of mine...

Yes I have.

Because it would be a much easier life. Far fewer responsabilities and much less stress.

I've also considered being a hobo. Can't really decide between the two.

,I think about this on a regular basis. I just want cabin in the middle of the woods with no one around for 30 miles.
Why?.. I'm tired of dealing with other people I'm tried of hearing about wars, and politics and people screwing other people over on T.V... I'm tired of dealing with crappy people at work, and I'm tired of dealing with people at home.
What it comes down to is I'm selfish and self-centered and I just want to do what I want and not have to think about anyone else.
