I have tryed really hard to get the answers, but I am confused. Please explain how to get these answers. Thank you!

4.) Convert 16 3/4 to a fraction. I know this one may be simple but not sure.

10.) Simplify: –(–(–39)).

17.) Multiply. (-1/6)(18)
I got 3 not sure though.

19. Use your calculator to evaluate the following expression if x = 1.07, y = –4.12, and z = –3.76. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.


A) 3.21
B) –3.21
C) 54.4
D) –54.4
I dont have a calculator

20. If p = 0 and q = –3, evaluate 2p2 – 5q.

I know that this is test and I understand that, but I am horible in math and I am asking not to just to pass, i want to understand what I am doing. It is very important for me to know what I am doing.

4) 16 3/4 multiply whole number by denominator, 64
add result to numerator, 67. Place over denominator: 67/4.

10) Remove brackets, minus sign changes internal sign: -39.

17) (-1/6)(18) Remove brackets, multiply, apply sign: -3.

19) You left out the expression.
Windows has a calculator under Accessories.

20) 2p2 – 5q
2(0)^2 - 5(-3)
0 + 15

4) isn't 16 3/4 already a mixed fraction? but you could make it
67/4= by multiplying 16 and 4 and adding 3.

10) -39....because a negative times a negative equals a positive but then another negative make the # negative.

17) -3.....you were right but you forgot the negation.

19) Can't help you w/ that...I don't a have a graphing calculator.

20) 15.........2*p=0 because 0 * 2 =0.....then 0 squared is still 0...so -5 * -3= 15

These are a TEST. That means that you are supposed to do them on your own. If we do them, that's cheating.

As for not having a calculator, try the one on your computer -- or there are more elaborate ones on line.
