why do people skip school?

They feel like they do not need to be in school, and they want the freedom and independence to go where ever they want, and they want to feel rebellious.

-Didn't do homework.
-Having a hard time at school (w/friends, work, teachers, etc.)
-Depressed.
-Just needs a day off.
-Worried about something.
-Sick.
-Literally nothing to wear.
-Younger sibling is sick and the older sibling has to take care of him/her.
-Bullying
*I'm sure there are many more reasons as to why people skip school, but I cannot think of any more.*


*Not all people who skip school are slackers and get bad grades. Some people skip school a lot and still get straight A's. Not everyone who skips school goes and does drugs and haves sex. Some people need to and have to skip school for important reasons.*

*Plus I don't see how skipping school is bad, as long as they get good grades.*

Skipping school...wow i did that way back when i was in HIgh School. I know I did it just for the rush of ever being cought. I wanted to see how much I could actually get away with. My friends and I used to walk up to my BF at the times house. or we would go down this trail a little ways from the high school and then go swimming in the creek or just walk around so we could smoke our cig's.....OMG i remember walking down a main road to the gas station and chilling just eatting Subway and potato chips till we had to be back to school. I can't tell you why other people do it, But I can tell you I did just for the rush.

They skip school for many reasons. Pressure from their peers, pressure from home to get a job. Most (not all) students today go to school for good times and I hear them on the public transportation systems talking about who they screwed and who they are going to screw the next night. It is ridiculous. Most want fun and games and do not want to study. Everything in this life takes hard work and sacrifice, and unfortunately parents are worst than the kids and naturally their kids turn out to be like beach bums. Also, competition and feeling inferior can do it. When family life was destroyed due to war, then due to the mother and father working, and meals were not eaten together where the family could discuss things, that caused a lot of this. Kids were left on their own. They need guidance. They need tutoring and counseling, and when the parents are ill equipped to offer this, the child suffers. Especially, when they see drunk mothers and fathers, or parents on drugs and bringing in sex partners in the house it is sad. There are many, many single mothers today and they bring in their dates, and their children immitate them sadly.

Because they think that their career is going to be great even if they don't have an education. They're also stupid and think that their cool, but really, when their sitting on the street with no clothing, thats not very cool at all because they don't have an education.

Because it's "hip" and it makes them "rockin'" and "cool" and everyone will be jealous because they're such "rebels" and they can "boogie on down" to the "ghetto" while all the "squares" sit in school learning like the "geeks" they are and the "cool cats" can "hang out" instead, and they can be treated to a minimum wage job when they drop out and have no prospects in life whatsoever.
