I'd get an ipod touch if you can live with 8 gb. Actually, who would use more than that for music? I can see if you want more space for videos, but you only put the music YOU actually listen to, NOT whole albums! I also own a zune 30 and have used a zune 80. I might sell my zune on ebay because I really dont think its that good. I don't like apple's dominance, but if it "works", then i'm not one to complain. Life is too short anyway. Here's why i'd get an ipod touch over a zune 80:
*Memory Type
-Flash memory is more durable than hard drive memory. Plus its quicker too and you can jog with it w/o breaking it. This means it will last MUCH longer if you take good care of it
*Battery Life
-Slightly higher than zune 80
*Screen
-.3 in larger than zune 80. It really makes the diffrence!
*Screen Resolution
-Much higher video resolution than zune. Videos, photos, and album art will look better! With a zune, its blindingly obvious that EVERY video is "fuzzy". The touch's resolution is 480 x 320 while the zune is 320 x 240
*Weight
-Weighs less than a zune 80 at 4.2 oz vs. zune 80 4.5 oz
*Thin-ness
-Touch is MUCH thinner and less bulky than zune
*Wireless
-You CAN go on the internet (unlike the zune) if you find a wi-fi hotspot. Hardly anyone cares about DRM-ridden sharing songs on a zune or the REALLY slow wireless sync (its not "wireless" actually, you have to have the zune plugged -in to a power source)
*Accelerometer
-Can view photos and web-pages whichever way you like. When listening to music, this activates cover flow
*Ambient light sensor
-The ipod touch automatically adjusts the screen brightness so you always can see whats playing. Plus, it saves battery power
*Youtube
-Looking for something funny or cool? Think videos are too expensive like me? Youtube!
*Buy music wirelessly
-Cant get a song out of your head? Buy it in ANY wi-fi hotspot!
*Software
-Itunes gets the job done. Couldn't say the same when using my zune 30 with the zune software. The itunes software didn't crash my computer, less graphic intensive, and it was MUCH easier to organize my songs. Plus, there is no confusion when buying songs. A song on zune costs 79 "microsft points" while itunes charges 99 cents.
*Music store selection
-Itunes has twice as many songs. Plus it has TV shows and movies
*Navigation
-The zune's navigation is improved, but once you use touch-screen technology, you will never go back! Easier and quicker to find anything I need!
*Cover flow
-This is really cool! It loads album art quicker than the classic or nano!
*Accessories
-There is a whole market dedicated just for ipods. No kidding!
*Support
-Apple has really nice support. You can buy an extended warranty if you want. If they cant fix it, they will send you another one for free. Plus, there are more ipod-related questions on yahoo answers than there are zune. That means you'll more likely be able to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong
*Cross platform compatibility
-Zune ONLY works with a PC. iPod works with BOTH pc and mac
*Software updates
-If there is any itunes software problems (bugs for instance), apple updates its software WAY more than Microsoft does for the zune software. This means, if you run into any trouble, its more likely to be fixed by apple
*Clock
-While a small feature, this is WAY more important than you might think!
*Turning devices off
-Everyone gets confused with this. Holding the zune's play/pause button will NOT turn it off. You have to do this and hold the back button on the zune. With the touch, its so easy, you just turn push the top button and slide to turn off
