GE, JNJ, and hundreds more have stock purchase plans that cost nothing. They're called;
"Dividend Reinvestment Plans" or DRIPS.

I've had several over the years;
GE, JNJ, HBC, RTRSY, IBM, BCS and some others I can't recall.

Scottrade has the lowest commission compared to all the competition. It's only 7$ a trade without a bunch of meaningless fees. I wrote an article about why I prefer Scottrade on my blog. It's called "Im a beginner and/ or a poor college student.. Which online broker is right for me?".

If you're doing this as a gift (ie getting a Harley Davidson fanatic one share of Harley Stock) rather than as an investment, try oneshare.

You can buy one share of the entire market with VTI. That would be better than trying to pick the one right stock.

I'm no financial whizz

bit it's a bit like

'if u need to ask, .....you're gonna lose all your money'

if u only buyin 1 share you'd have to pay share purchase fees which would make it pointless.

sorry but u better offstickin it on a football game accumulator

fairly! i might wait till I re-enter the industry. The inventory industry is a cycle, and the industry has been up for the final 3 months - the trend will fairly be reversed at one factor. Wait till April, it fairly is while shares pass down for my section.
