many people think the clothes they wear represent their individual selves, who they are. I say they couldn't be more wrong, as they did not design the clothes themselves did they? they also did not invent whatever movement/fad the clothes were created for right? they are products of everything they had ever been exposed to right, therefore they are not individual, and cloathes cannot possibly express their personality as obviously they were conceived by someone else, and no one really has an original personality.

Ahh, but I may agree with the style and approach of the clothes.

I may want an Armani double-breasted suit
I may want torn levis and an "eat the rich" t-shirt
I may want the "preppie" look

Clothes express what I am feeling when i wear it

I don't think people should judge you by your clothes, but they are definately a part of who you are. If you are more of an outgoing person, maybe you will wear wild and crazy clothing. If you want to play it safe, you tend to perhaps dress in all of the other 'in' styles and clothing. Wearing a certain brand doesn't make you cooler or better than anyone else, and not wearing peticular brands doesn't make you worse or below others. Your clothing is just a way of expressing yourself, and it does play a role in how you want people to think of you, and moreso the type of person that you are.

So, yes and no, clothes do and do not represent who you are.

I think for some yes and others no.

It depends on how you shop in my opinion. Some shop by latest trends, styles and brands. This may not really represent you much other than you lack originality.

However, some people do a little of everything like vintage, bargain and the occasional splurge on something they really like. It has more to do with liking the item of clothing rather than the brand, how stylish it is at the time or trendy.

Because even though we dont like to admit it everyone does judge other people by there appearances and clothing is the aspect of your appearance you have the most control over. Besides, the clothes on your back can make you feel a certain way if you let them.

It really depends on who you hand out with. If you are really concerned with your appearance, then i would suggest getting a new pair of freinds.

I don't wear skater clothes or abercrombie stuff because i'm not a skater or a surfer so i just stick with what i want people to judge me by. I stick with old rock band T-shirts, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Beatles, The Doors etc...

I love old bands and i want people i see around to see that.

The clothes i wear represent who i am! You can tell alot about a person by how they dress. Ex.... if i am happy i wear PINK or a happy color. But if someone was sad they would wear black or something. And i think they are individual because you pick out your own clothes....

I agree although sometimes they do demonstrate the person you are. Like if you wear stained clothes you could be judged as a person who doesn't wash their clothes. One that really bugs me is when you dress nice in Hollister or Ambercrombie (etc.) and people call you preppy! Happy New Year! :)

I highly agree. Most Goths think they are "expresing their individuality" by dressing in black...But they aren't. Because they don't seem to be able to turn their heads and look around. There are 2 million other people around with the same black T-Shirt, Vans, Converses, Scarfs, and Hair color....You can't be individual through what you wear. Ever. Even if you design it....

It represents how people look at you. Cause you would want to be friends with a homeless person or a person who picks their nose in public. You would want to be friends with a person who doesn't pick their nose and is normal. So if you see a person who is normal you'd pick them not a booger picking snot licking freak. Even if they are nice you don't know that. It's just like in middle school when you saw the weird kid you wouldn't want to hang out with that, but if you talked to him then it would be different.
