These are the songs from the movie soundtrack. Most of the time they are listed in the order in which they are heard.

I looked at the soundtrack list above, and none of those are the opening number, which IS written by Dee Barton, who wrote the soundtrack except for several songs. After the initial opening with only the sound of waves crashing along the coastline, it goes into a sort of funky rock/jazz fusion. So, the introductory music is not "Misty" or "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", which is used as background for their day together. I remember what a huge hit Roberta Flack's version was.

He plays Erroll Garner's version of "Misty", not the Johnny Mathis version.

Thus far, I can't find if that opening track has a name; I'm almost certain it wouldn't be the type of piece to be referred to as "Theme from Play 'Misty' for Me". Surely it has some designation though.

The next time I watch the film, I'll have to see if they credit it.
