its more of a "lets bust who did this" than anything else. because i'm sure whoever it is, is stealing a TON of things. My grandmothers package was rummaged through, it was a mess from what i understand but nothing was taken.

Get a complaint form from your local postmaster. Report the incident exactly as it happened and the postmaster will investigate it and decide what if any actions should be taken.

You're saying the package arrived at its destination, and it was empty ?? You need the take the package, and the wrappings to the Post Office so they can look at it closely. It suggest someone had opened the package, took the contents out, then resealed the package again. In the future, you should consider paying the extra surcharge, and say you want it insured. Its only $1.65 to insure a package for a maximum $50 coverage against damage or theft.

Contact your local postmaster. The post office doesn't take too kindly to mail theft. This is especially true of its own employees. They have a whole division of investigators and such looking for mail fraud and theft.

still not sure what you're saying, was it taken from a po box, a drop box, or what? can you trace where it was taken from? If so you should call postal inspection service, NOTthe postmaster!!!! He'll cover up anything to save his own rear.

IS it possible something else happened to it? look at all the possibilities before accusing someone of stealing.

The best thing to do is to go to the post office and report it and show them the receipt that you purchased the item. It's too bad that a few people are heartless and do such terrible things. I hope you have luck to catch the thief.

Contact the police first, let them contact the postmaster and handle it...contacting the police first ensures that you have a paper trail to follow if somebody ever tries to give you the run-around at the post office...
