Yeah Oxygen they have no nucleus so there more space for O2 thay also contain hymoglobin which has something to do with the blood system

Oxygen. You breathe in and out, so the lungs have a continual supply of oxygen. What happens is depleted cells come through the superior or inferior vena cava in to the right atrium, into the right ventrical, into the pulmonic artery (the only artery with depleted blood), then into the capillaries in the lungs. Once there the cells pick up oxygen and go into the pulmonic vein (the only vein with oxygen rich blood), then the blood travels into the left atrium, then the left ventricle, and finally through the aorta to the rest of the body where they deliver oxygen to parts of the body like muscles, the brain, and nearly all other areas.

Respiration is their key function. In your lungs each red blood cell picks up oxygen, just as a truck might load up at a warehouse. A red cell contains an iron-rich protein called hemoglobin that oxidizes or “rusts,” as it were, in your lungs, that is, it unites with oxygen, becoming bright red. Red Blood Cells deliver Oxygen to the bodies' cells.
Red Blood Cells contain mostly hemoglobin which is largely iron. When you expose iron to oxygen it oxidizes (rusts). This is how red blood cells carry oxygen to the bodies' cells. Of course each cell has to work to pull the oxygen out of the red blood cell.

It delivers digested food substancees from intestines to all parts of the body. It delivers excretory producis from the tissues to respective excretory organs for removal. Hoemones from the glands which produce them to parts of the body which requires them.

Oxygen. They can also carry intracellular dideases such as malaria, but I don't think that's what you meant by your question. All other nutients are either bound to proteins or move freely within the plasma portion of the blood.
