When you say power-loss, it can be caused by the brakes binding on, by the torque from the engine not getting to the drive-wheels, perhaps a trasmission problem, or the engine is not getting enough fuel or air, or ignition is taking place out-of -time, or the ignition system is down on power because one or more components are not working as they should... As you can see, we need a lot more information! What are the symptons, when do they happen when did they start to occur, what have you changed lately, when did you last service the car?
You cannot fix something when you don't know EXACTLY what is wrong with it. Can you provide any more information?

What you need is a compression test. While a needed valve adjustment will improve power somewhat, the missing at idle is probably not the valve adjustment. It could be a burned valve. The compression test will either indicate this or rule it out. A leaky vacuum hose would be one other possibility. You should ge the valve adjustment too.

Vacuum line leaks or lines off, bad gas or improper octane, real need of a tune up, brakes seizing up and not releasing, dirty filters; air and fuel, bad timing, altitude and car not adjusted to the thin air, engine on its last legs.

This has happened to me. Once it was the timing chain and another time it was the crank shaft, both major fixes. Good Luck.
