If you put a, for example, male paradise and male blue gourami together, would they fight?

Probably not. I've had whole groups of gouramis together - they are great community fish. However, the smaller paradise fish sometimes do tend to be a bit more aggressive. Give them all enough room and I doubt you will have a problem

Paradise Gouramis are very aggressive towards anything that remotely resembles another Gourami (which another Gourami would... duh). Putting the two together would mean almost constant fighting, and eventually, the Paradise would come out on top and the other Gourami would die. It would be much better to just get a pair of one species (male and female) or just one. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Normally, the same species of gourami will fight for territory and 2 different species will get along. However, you must have enough space for both of them to get away from each other so they don't fight. A male gourami needs 30 gallons to himself to be completely territorially established.
