No lecture here. Whether or not you file bankruptcy, The child support is not included, how you intend to pay back child support is entirely your business. I do hope that you are seeing your child. It's important.

The mere fact that you have unused limits on your credit cards indicates you are still in position to pay them.

Perhaps instead of considering bankruptcy who might speak with credit counselling agencies who may arrange with your creditors for an orderly payment of this debt. It could perhaps take a little time to do this but perhaps you may feel better at the outcome.

I don't know about the child support thing but bankruptcy is a lot more difficult than everyone knows it doesn't necessarily just solve your debt problems and in Australia if you file for bankruptcy and earn over a certain amount they can still garnish your wages to pay off your debt for up to 5 years I believe.. Whilst it sucks being in debt you'd be better off consulting a financial counsellor to help you draw up a budget, make cutbacks where possible, consolidate your debt if possible and try and work things out with your creditors... Good luck and Merry Christmas!!

Depends on whether or not the court will accept the credit cards. If they do, you can try it.

However, it probably won't work out for you. Filing bankruptcy itself isn't cheap. Plus, a judge reviews it and makes a decision on whether or not to discharge your debt. If he reviews that you simply charged up your credit cards to pay off child support, he might deny the bankruptcy.
