lenny is retarded, he is treated badly by everyone. he is big and doesnt know his own strngths.

george is his "care taker"

he looks after him, but is often mean to him.

at the end of the novel, george shotts lenny in the back of his head. but he did it out of mercy, love, and care. Lenny would have been lynches by society, and burned to death. George thought it would be better to take him out of this world early. He shot him in the back of the head, while lenny was looking at a beautiful view. George didnt feel bad about killing him becasue he knew lenny died happy, with no pain.
