what is this jug? Bought it at an estate sale?

White 8" tall with blue hand painted picture. the lid looks like a bowl. It looks chinese or japanese. I have seen them in chinese movies usually carried by a drunken guy.

It sounds like it could be a Canton style ginger jar. This is just an example, it can have a scene depicted, etc... look:
