Most definately! If we did nothing to help our conscience would plague us for the rest of our lives. We couldn't pass anyone by who was in need like this. We have been in emergency situations in the past....a friends little boy choked on a biscuit, a lady neighbour choked on a piece of sandwich, a child in our neighbourhood was knocked down by a car....and on those occasions we did what we could to help. We haven't had to do CPR on those occasions but we could if it had been necessary.
It would make no difference to us if the person was a tramp or a well dressed person. If we stopped to think about it in regard to diseases it would/could be too late. There's as much chance of catching something (Aids for example) from a well-dressed person as there is from a homeless person. In situations like that there isn't time to stop and think.

I once gave CPR to an old skuffy looking man outside of a grocery store.nobody else would bother with him. I found out later that he died but at least I know I tried to help him the best that I could.I was thinking at the time, he must but special to someone if not to me.

Presuming that I could only do it once, I'd probably give it to a child suffering with cancer @ St. Jude's. But if I could do it all the time, then sure; why not?

been there, done that.

He had just taken a hit through a ladder from a power line.

He died anyway. (they don't tell you that when they teach you
CPR ... but that's usually what happens ...)
