I got my first speeding ticket, I was driving in NJ, going 90 on the highway with a 65mpg limit. What is the best thing to do now?

Who pulled you over? State trooper or local police? Sorry to tell you, but your kinda screwed. The town listed for appearance on the ticket will have a municipal prosecutor, try to talk to him, he should allow a plea-bargain for lesser charges. Doing this is much better than willy-nilly pleading guilty straight off the bat. Be polite to the folks at the courts, they can make your life miserable. GOOD LUCK --IC

Pay up. Then remove your right shoe, take a switch and beat that foot, telling it, bad foot, bad foot, so that it never pushes the gas pedal so hard again. lol. Seriously it really pays to watch your speed. According to the latest published reports NJ is one of the 5 most expensive states in the country for speeding tickets with first offense at a minimum of $500. Doing that far over the limit it may be worse. Virginia is worse though. If you're a resident, you get a special consideration of $1050 fine on top of what an out of stater would get for speeding.

I recognise a number of law enforcement officials and none of them have ever acquired a price tag for rushing whilst they're pulled over. A lot of it'll ought to do with the "code" that law enforcement officials comply with to guard their possess. I are not able to say all law enforcement officials get out of tickets despite the fact that. Just those I recognise.

Pay the ticket. It will cost you less in the end. You could try fighting for a lower offense if its your first time but I'd pay it and move on.
