I have a 1993 subaru impreza gl, 1600cc, with a very small battery. Its coming to the end of its life and I have a battery in the garage from a Mitsubishi delica 4WD, that is probally almost double the size of my current, although my current 1 is very very small and old. Will it make a difference changing them? Will me alternator be able to handle charging this bigger batter?? This new battery has "80" written on the top, which could stand for 80amps? Thats all I can find out.
Any help appreciated!

Your present alternator will charge any 12 volt battery. Your only concern will be to buy the largest physical replacement size that will fit your battery box. If the present battery fills the battery box entirely shop for the most cold cranking amps @ 0 degrees Walmart sells yellow Maxx batteries that are made by The East Penn Battery Company in Lyon station PA. Their own battery is sold under the Deka name. Year after year Consumers Reports rates the Walmart Maxx Batterys in all sizes at the top or near the top. You can't beat their prices with a fence post.

Your on the right track trying to put the biggest battery possible in your car. The bigger the better, as long as it fits. The alternator will be happier the bigger and newer the battery that you install. A new spiral core battery is the best, but costs twice as much as a standard lead acid battery:
