What did you think that they would become when they grew up? You wonder why there are so many people on welfare and in gangs and doing drugs, dealing drugs and steeling what working people have worked for, driving insurances cost up. And even once you catch them now doing wrong, you put them in a jain and change nothing, they still have no schooling when they get out, what do you think they are going to do when they get out? Your law only temps children to give up as a option in life, even ones that do well in school !!!!!!!! Britny Spears should be in school and not twisting her *** on TV like a dumb ***.

What are you talking about?

There are laws keeping kids in schools. In California, kids have to be in school until they're 18 or they can be picked up for truancy.
Kids break said laws.
AND
Police and lawyers have more to do in a day than chase down 17 year olds that will age out of the system before their court dates.

As for Brittney:
She's now an adult and can do what ever the heck she pleases and live with the consequences.

Child stars have tutors. They can't go to regular school, usually, because of the security risk for all of the children.

Are you talking about college?
At 18 people are adults and can CHOOSE not to go to college, trade school, or anything else. At that point, just like Brittney, they can do what ever the heck they please and live with the consequences.

There was a time when higher education did not matter as people could get jobs in manufacturing. Those days are gone and today no one with less than high school will work at any job other than one that pays minimum wages. If you wants a decent paying job, you need college education. You have to wait until you 18 to vote, or 21 to legally drink, then why are we allowing 16 year old the ability to ruin their lives by dropping out of school. The laws that allow kids to drop out of school when they reach a certain age should be abolished.

A hundred years ago, families were large, kids worked the farms and if they could not keep up in the one room school house, they worked on the farm.
Now a days, some dumb politicians pass these useless laws that have no clue how bad it is to permit children to reach an age to make their own decision to drop out of school. There are no longer farms to work on as illegal immigrants have taken those jobs and kids are unemployable unless they continue to get an education.
Blame the government for permitting kids to quit and parents who could care less about their kids.

I think you watch too much TV news. The world is not as bad as you believe it to be. The jails are full because we lock people up for behavior that should be treated medically and that's where they learn to become real threats to society.

Watch a good Christmas movie. Go to church. Go visit family. Your Karma is all messed up and you're negative attitude is self inflicted.

good question. They allowed kids to drop school back in the 1800s. And it has stuck. I am totally against young people quitting also. They quit to help out on farms and whatever was needed around the house. As everyon knowa, Life has changed and so should this law. It should be 18 0r graduate or NO drivers license.
