Yes he should still be in prison. And yes he is guilty. He admitted doing it but did not think it was wrong.

There's no question as to his guilt.
He should have been in a mental institution.
He was destroyed by, first his non-family (who passed him around), then by the juvenal deliquent system, and finally by the criminal justice system.
