yes diesel fuel will burn in your oil burner but it's more expensive to use than the regular fuel oil as you have to pay road taxes on it when you buy it.

Do you mean an oil burning stove? If so, then yes, you probably can. But you may have to clean the burner much more frequently as diesel soots up real bad. We used to run it when I was stationed in Korea.

Diesel oil and fuel oil are almost exactly the same but diesel has additives to prevent gelling in cold weather.
