it depends on how your parents raised you.... if the first born is treated like the 'golden child' and the youngest is treated like the 'baby' then you are left with no real position than being 'the other one' and maybe treated as such... some people say that middle children are always trying to get attention because they lack definition of being 'special'..... sometimes they are over achievers because they want to carve out their special place... sometimes they do nothing because they feel that no matter what they do no one will notice... so yes there is a type... but it isn't specific.... :)

well birth order does affect a lot of things. being the middle u may not be allowed to do certain things that ur older sibblings may have drove ur parents crazy doing. like driving at sixteen, they may make u wait. or on the other hand, ur older sibblings may not have gone to co ed parties at say age 13 but u can, bc ur parents think thats the reason things didnt go so well with the the older ones. u may feel like u are overlooked at times bc the youngest is a spoiled baby and the oldest is a spoiled college student. whatever the case remeber that being 1st 2nd or 3rd or even the only child has its ups and its downs. its how u deal with it that affects ur life.

I'm a middle child too. I have four other sisters. Trust me order does matter. You will realize the oldest child with be treated with more respect. And the baby with get every thing they want. Then when the baby does something wrong they don't get punished as harshly as the middle child.

The Middle child usually gets less attention than the rest. The older one I think gets more chores and things. The Last usually gets spoiled. What's left for the middle?

It only does in a general sense because you likely experienced things in ways others did not. However, don't let anyone pigeon hole you a certain way because we all are different.
I was raised as an only child, however I was also the last after 2 much older brothers, so I really didn't fit the mold in either the youngest or only child "groupings...".

I've heard that middle children are the most needy because we aren't the oldest and youngest and they receive the most attention.
I'm a middle child and have made better decisions and have a better life than the 1st and last child.
I think we usually are more considerate of others.

You are in the middle of the sibling pecking order. Unless all of you or even some of the other members of this order take this reality into account it is hard to avoid or maintain an objective stance in front of your own self emotions and that of obtaining equal amount of the warm fuzzies coming from the adult order of this game.

I'm the middle child, I feel overlooked and cause a lot of fuss when I was younger to get attention. My younger sister got everything, and my brother cause he's the only boy in the family

You are likely to be even-tempered and adaptable.
I read somewhere that the youngest of a family is likely to get his own way in most things, use charm as a manipulative tool, and be somewhat tardy about keeping promises or accepting responsibility. Oh boy, does that describe my son !! He is really just a baby wearing grown-up clothes.

yes!!im a middle child and 14, and if you just sit back and look at life, it does affect things. however, ive heard that middle children as they become older, become peacekeepers, so theres pros and cons. i dont get as much attention, which gives me more room to be my self and do what i want. im way different than my other siblings, but its a good thing.
