I need to add a new hard drive and I have brought it, it is a SATA not a PATA so it should work but there are 2 ports for me to put in the hard drive and both are used, one by the Primary Hard Drive and the other by the DVD drive. How can I connect my new hard drive.

Does you motherboard and DVD drive have an IDE ports you could use. Then hookup the SATA drive where the DVD is now. You can only have one drive per cable using SATA.

You could also get a SATA expansion card.

Both drives will only use one IDE connector, there should be two IDE connectors on your motherboard. However you need to connect the SATA drive, to an SATA port.

Each SATA cable controls only one drive. If you have additional drives, you will need a controller card that goes into a PCI slot.
