Where can I exchange my extra Euros for American currency? Can I do it at a bank?

I have extra euros from a vacation to France left over and I don't know where/how to exchange them into American dollars. Help please!

First, find out what they are worth online. There are several forex trading sites online such as www.fxte.com. On this site just look at the live ticker on the home page and look for EURUSD. It will tell you what the current exchange rate is for your Euros to Dollars.

Next, try your local bank. Armed with your information, you can at least know what your bank is making off of you for exchanging your Euros. They are probably the best place to start.

Many of the major Hotels such as Marriotts offer currency exchange and their rates are posted at the front desk. They wont be as good as the bank, but are more accessable if your bank doesnt offer it.

Finally, the airports offer currency exchange desks, but they are rip offs. They charge the most, and I often wonder if I am in the wrong business watching how many people use them without knowing the amount of money they are giving away.

Euros and US dollars would be fine (UK Pound much less - not many places would exchange those). Also, you can have the bills in 20, 50 or 100 but make sure they do no have any extra mark on them (like accidental pen writing). The bill should be of a good quality. My American husband once brought a 100 dollar bill that had either some ink mark or pen writing and hey said they'd have to charge him more for hat - thus the rate was not too good. Some banks did no want to accept old bills too. Also, as advice, try not to exchange the money at the airport or train station once you get to Russia - the exchange rates are cheap there. Banks will change notes, but not coin. Bureaux de change at airports should, and occasionally you see them offered on ebay. Or if you hear of someone else heading for Europe, they may be interested. It is good to arrive with some of the right currency in your pocket. Handy for bus or taxi fares, or cup of coffee etc.

Contact your bank. If they cannot do the exchange for you, they will know what bank in your area does such transactions, and if there are any fees involved.

i really would not recommend exchanging them right now. you would get very little for your money with the current exchange rate. why not hold onto the money for a future trip to europe? or if you do not think you are going to go to europe again wait until the dollar gains value in the world market because right now its basically worthless.

check with your local bank. I can't exchange foreign currency at my bank. I have to go 2 hours away to do it. maybe at the airport you could?

It's really bad
