I have my wii standing up and it haven't tip over yet. The wii comes with a base so you can have it standing up, especially if you have any gamecube controllers. It's recommended if you have any gamecube controllers that you have it standing. :)

It comes with a stand, so stand it up. That's what I do. All you have to do is make sure there's no way someone can make it fall (get all the wires/cords out of the way, always leave the wii area clean, pick up stuff on the floor after you play). On the other hand, if you're still worried a bout your wii falling, just lay it down. Who cares how it looks. Would you rather have an ugly looking wii (that's not even really ugly) that works perfectly fine, or a good looking broken wii? Do whatever you think is right. Just know that if you stand it up, you have the responsibility to make sure nothing happens to it. Good luck!

i would stand it up to prevent it from over heating. heat rises so if the wii is Flatt on the ground it will be hotter. it will also collect more dust if it is Flatt on the ground. Nintendo did also give you a stand so i would assume that the wii was engineered to be stood up.

They wouldn't give you a stand if you weren't supposed to stand it up, and I've seen Wiis fall and not be broken, so I'd stand it up.
