I am not familiar with Shaw. I use ComCast (broadband) with a Linksys router. But I have had this problem before, and I suspect that you may be having the same problem.

I find that I have to program the IP addresses for my ISP's DNS server into my router. You might also have to give your router a gateway IP address. If you look at your TCP/IP configuration on your PC when you direct-connect it, these IP addresses are in there.

Your router is not configured properly.

Read the router User Manual and follow all installation instructions.

TIP: Turn off (unplug) your Cable / DSL modem, router and PC for about 2 minutes and re-start in that exact order.

Still stuck? Call the router tech support line.

Still stuck? Call your ISP.
