I was thinking of repainting my table or perhaps making a new one from scratch and I have had a lot of trouble finding a good, frictionless paint to use.

Can anybody suggest something for me? Like what real tables are painted with?

I should think a good enamel would do the trick. Chalkboard paint would work too.

"Frictionless" is not important. I'd go with a matte finish rather than glossy to lessen glare.
