uh....try slowing down

As it's been said, try getting your wheels balanced, and your tracking sorted. If you live in an area with speed bumps through residential areas these can knock your tracking out.
Yes, I believe ABS works by alternate gripping and releasing of your wheels, but at a fast speed, to prevent going into skids.
Am sorry, but I do agree with the Top Gear comment, all the BMW owners around here fit the description.
But as many others pointed out, you should really only be doing 70mph, unless you are on a certified racetrack.
Hope you get your problems sorted out.

its more than likely just a balance issue and maybe a slight alignment too try taking your hands off the wheel (NOT AT 100MPH THOUGH HAHA) if its pulls to one side get that fixed while they are balancing the wheels. its deffinatly not power steering related though. the shudder under brake may also be that you need your breaks machined although that would come through the break pedal not the wheel.

either way if your doing that speed then get it fixed soon before it causes you to loose it. stay safe

Forget all the other jelous idiots. I have an M3 and of course you need to do 100mph (in 3rd), every day actually, Sounds like warped discs to me, abt 50 quid each from a dealer for a pattern part.

Hi,

Shudder through the steering is usually down to 2 things, unbalanced wheels or faulty shock absorbers.

Those are the most obvious faults, then comes worn suspension joints.

I'd get those checked and keep the speed down until you do.

As well as getting the wheels balanced and tracked you may also want to check your brakes. You'll get judder through braking if the discs have warped. Suprisingly discs can become warped while stationary and you constantly have your foot on the brake pedal (while waiting at a set of lights etc..). I agree with all the people here as well as doing a 100 mph is just madness and you are either gonna get yourself killed as well as others.

Hi, this could be due to a number of things. You should get it checked out because your M3 should be a smooth ride at high speeds.
Check tires for uneven tread wear, front control arms and bushings for excessive play (they should be stiff) and wheel alignment. If you have after market wheels - make sure they aren't bent on either the outside or inner lips.
For braking problems, have your front and rear brake rotors checked for out of round specs and brake pads specs.
Bring your car to a BMW specialist or dealer. This could cost from $90 (just diagnosis) to $1500 (including parts and labor).

Two things going on.......

Shudder at speed >> FRoNT tires out of balance OR out of round. likleyhood : bal 85% OOR > 15%.

Hard Braking >> Brake rotor warped, not flat, from high temperatures OR loose ball joints at bottom of strut OR front wheel bearing keeper nut loose / cotter pin missing....

Warped 90%, ball joint 8%, nut > 2%
Warped - not a critical problem, ball joint - you will wreck the car, nut comes off - you can die.......

Does this car have a steering damper ?? Some German cars do. Almost no American cars do.... Almost every Porsche 914 2.0 L I ever drove had steering shudder at exactly 82 mph.........

Might have a wheel out of balance. But keep driving at that speed and you won't need to worry about it. Someone will clean up the mess.

chances r that ur car has been damaged so bad before and someone has done a piss poor attempt to fix it is very common for m3 s to be hit a number of times ,,,,,,apart from that it might need tracking ,,,,,,,,does the car pulll to one side when u take ur hands off the wheel?? if so get it tracked and balanced and it should be grand

Get your wheels balanced and your tracking sorted, that should sort the high speed shudder. The shudder when you are stopping is your abs saving you from ploughing into stationary objects.
