My 2 brothers are sold on A.A. not that it is a bad thing. But they live and breathe this stuff to the point of thinking people are'nt that well together unless they are involved in this program. I used to drink alot but changed my life and work on my spiritual program, which works so well for me. I tried A.A. but it made me feel guilty everytime i would do a meeting. I mean this is like 3 yrs. sobriety. Eveyone kept telling me you have to do this or this will happen, but you have to think for yourself not constantly be told what someone thinks you need to do to be o.k. But my brothers are so brain washed that they don't see how closed minded they are. Anyway has anyone felt this way also?

Have you seen the A.A. South Park episode? Its sooo funny!! On a more serious note, I'm very sorry that your brothers are being odd to you. Its good that they are happy, but they should be happy for you in your success, even if it was through a different means!

I know what you mean. I went along to one of their meetings, and boy did I need a drink afterwards ! These guys are so far up their own backsides it is unbelievable. At the meeting one guy had fallen off the wagon, and boy did he have a hard time.

Each of us must find our own way through things, and I think your brothers should be big enough to be told to shut up about theirs, because it is BORING !

It's replacing an addiction with an addiction. Your brothers were addicted to alcohol and now they're addicted to AA. It's annoying when people keep pounding their ideas on you. You might try to reason with them if you think that they will listen. It's great that they are alcohol free, but you found a method that is working for you as well and they should respect that.

I know what you mean, and sometimes the "preachy" aspects of the program get to me, too. But different things inspire people differently...if that's what works for them, (and they're living healthier as a result) consider the rant a minor annoyance and let it be. Happy Holidays.

people how need AA--they find a great gift-sobriety--they get enthusiastic-for a while--they want to share--then they settle down--if you truly OK--then be Happy for them-and just live your own life--If they do the Steps as written-not adding to or substacting from the steps--they well settle down and leave you be

it's sad, how some people are so involved in alcohol.

Yeah, it's happened to me and what I learned was in life there are "Thing's I Can Not Change", and "Things I Can Change".

You can try to help your brothers, but in the end, it's only you who controls you.
