This is a complicated question, but I'll try to give you an easy answer. Men continue to earn more income than women (on average) at their jobs. Often, a woman stops work (interrupting what might have been a good career) in order to mother her children for a few years. Men, usually do not take time off work to father their kids. So....the father is supposed to pay child support from his salary and the mother is supposed to care for the child and work towards getting a job that can support her and half of what it takes to support the child (the father paying the other half). If the wife has been out of the work force and is poor, it's going to take her longer to get a better paying job, AND she has to care for the child in her custody at the same time, too. The father on the other hand, continues to work, and actually has time to take a second job, if necessary. So, USUALLY, in this situation, the father is a deadbeat if he doesn't pay something, and the mother is given public assistance until she can get on her feet after a divorce. Sometimes it works the other way, but if you are a father you should WANT to pay to support the child you created. You should love that child enough to make your payments on time for his/her health and welfare, and you should visit your child regularly. There ARE bad mothers. Deadbeat dads, though, are usually bad fathers.

The custodial parent does not pay child support, and if he non custodial parent is not paying the other may have a need for assistance to assist in the care of the children. It is not gender specific. God bless****

hmmm.... interesting and sadly true.
My ex is a dead beat for 2 reasons
1. he DOES NOT pay and CAN
2. He doesnt make ANY effort to be a dad. Doesn't call her or see her but ONCE or twice a year
I got assistance for a while. I needed help to care for my child because I had no help from dad. I was and am a GREAT mom but I just was financially in a bad position. Just because I needed assistance, did not make me a dead-beat. You are not either unless you are not there for the kiddo.
I am now re-married and off of assistance.

I know two deadbeat moms. They're not getting excused or assistance, because the fathers don't let it slide. That's the way it should be - everybody's responsible.
So no, that's not ALWAYS the case.

Cause society feels sorry for women... they are portrayed as weak individuals when they have children.
I'm not saying it's true, they are real smart so much so that Hillary Clinton is ready to take over the world as the leader of the most powerful conutry in history.
Hummm.. maybe they are just taking us for suckers, and in the end they can really support themselves and the 3 kids???? ladies? what do you think.
They sound lazy to me.

If the father has residential custody why did HE put in a court order for support? All the fathers I know who have custody are recieve support from their ex's...but it's in their court papers. Has to be.
