So, my new years resolution is to go veg. Seriously. Before you say "oh my gosh Jen what happened to you" or "oh my gosh Jen that will only last 2 days you practically are a hamburger" hear me out.
I've done the whole vegetarian thing before. It did only last 2 days because I did it for the wrong reasons. This time I'm doing it for myself, not because "my friends will think I'm cool".
I've always felt that certain animals were put on this planet for us to consume. Survial of the fittest. But in no way shape or form were animals put here for us to use, abuse, mutate, mutilate, and torture. This whole need of mass production for mass consumption is not at all how God inteded us to treat his creatures.
I've always been an animal lover and because of this I've downright ignored the facts. Everytime I hear a story I change the subject. But by ignoring these facts I've just been handing over money to the people who are doing the things I abhor.

This isn't a put down to those of you who do eat meat, I had beef for dinner last night. This is just me making a statement about making a change. January 1st is when it begins.
Those of you who agree with me please oh please send your support! I don't really know where to begin. But it's something I've been considering for a very long time and I'm finally ready to make a change.
TYVM!

Im sorry, but unlike the answer above mine says, the world isnt going to shut down if you stop eating meat. Not eating meat isnt ignorant....that answer is ignorant. Im a vegetarian but have several meat eating friends. I do my thing, they do theirs. They dont push their meat eating on me, and I dont push my vegetarianism on them. To each his own. If you decided that not eating meat is for you, then by all means, go for it. If you think youre going to have a hard time with it then start slowly. Cut out red meats, when you're used to that, cut out poultry...when thats no longer an issue, cut out sea food, etc etc. It'll be easier for you if you dont try to drop it all at once, especially if you're used to eating alot of meat. Another thing, if you fail, that doesnt mean you're a failure. It either means that being a vegetarian isnt right for you, or it just means you gotta jump back on the band wagon. Good luck with your life change , and remember, not eating meat isnt going to send the world into a spiraling downfall.

I don't feel I have the right to kill another animal or being on this earth. Thier life is just as precious as mine. They enjoy being out in nature, playing, spending time with family, just as much as I do. They have emotions of joy, fear, and happiness just like I do.
I have been a vegetarian for many years. But you have to do it right. My hair started to fall out and it didn't help my weight issue one bit.
If you are going to be vegetarian learn which vegetables has the most proteins and eat them 4 times a week.
Sometimes I am lazy so I just eat egg and fish and I hate when I do that.
Good Luck

well good luck to you, i think the reason behind it is truly a good one. i agree we were meant to eat meat but not abuse our position on the food chain. we were built to consume SOME meat S O M E not devour meat in all forms every day of our life and abuse animals or twist nature to produce four legged chickens or whatever they do in those farms. its gotten out of hand and its about time we change it. you can go completely vegetarian and be just fine as long as you make sure you get a good balanced diet and take vitamins but i wonder why noone just takes the "eat less meat " approach. i consume meat maybe twice a week, all the rest of the time i eat as healthy as i can which usually means fresh veggies and fruits/breads , this is truly how we are intended to eat, our bodies were designed to be bout 80% veggie eater and 20% meat eater.
either way i definitely support you ! best of luck .

I used to be a strict one but now eat poultry and fish. Haven't eaten pork or beef for 30 or so years now.I sometimes feel bad about eating any sort of meat but have gotten lazy with myself.i do always thank the animals I have eaten for their lives. Silly but something I feel I must do.I try not to judge other people for eating meat, everyone has to decide for themselves.

Eating meat is completely right you are completely ignorant not to eat meat. Here are some reasons if we stopped eating deer meat the grass poplulation would go down which means the oxygen level goes down wich means the death rate goes up because of oxgen starvation and car accidents and disease with all the dead deer on the streets. And global warming with all the new hospitals being built for all the people who had been in car accidents and then poverty because of hospital bills and car bills. You may think i am only 1 person not eating meat it will not affect the world but it will because you are influencing people no to eat meat.

respect your decision, besides, vegetables are so yummy. I'm starting to get really sick of meat, like I get queasy everytimes I eat mneat. It's wierd. I wasn't that way in Ghana but once I moved here, meat has really started getting gross. My uncle was vegetarian and he was one of the strongest men I know.
