Yep I believe in it... and as a university biology instructor it's my job to open up students eyes to facts. I know not all of them will "wake up"-- I try to do an open discussion at the end of the semesters and I make a point to tell them that it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you can always back it up.
I was raised Christian (mainly Baptist, but also Episcopal)-- it took me over 20 yrs to understand Evolution, something that I absolutely love now... mainly it was Biogeography that opened my eyes. Throughout my career I challenged evolutionists & used scientific hypothesizes against them (mainly bringing up exceptions to theories and what not)... I don't go into all the detail w/ my students b/c my hope is that one day they will see the world as a dynamic ever evolving wonderful and beautiful place that needs human influence & conservation.
But I do ask "Do you think the ppl of the bible could have lived for 500 yrs?" Most say no, some say yes b/c that's what they believe-- and I explain that just believing it (or having faith) isn't always enough- but if you were to bring up a valid point, such as the earth's atmosphere was thicker and there may have been more oxygen which could heal cells faster and allow for them to live longer, then they could justify their beliefs.
I find it easier to argue a point if there are facts to back it up... and I don't really see any major flaws w/ evolution... but that's just me.

Of course evolution is much closer to the fact than the Garden of Eden story. Evolution, if you look at the facts, is much more proven than the biblical story. It has facts to back it up. Facts being the bones of many creatures that have been proven via carbon dating, pollen dating, etc. etc. etc. to be of such and such an age. And about the same type of rebuilding and matching that helps the forensics folks find out the name, sex, age, etc. of modern-day corpses. The biblical story of man is not claimed to be factual by intelligent educated Christians in, fact. Most intelligent educated Christians believe evolution to be God's instrument. Those who don't believe in evolution, I have found under questioning, have not taken the trouble to read and found out what evolution claims.. So it is easy to believe in a fantasy when you don't understand what the conversation is about.

FAITH IS believing in a creator that has created this universe. . Looking at the universe, we see infallibility. Everything is designed in such a way, that it is perfect. Think of the basic cell, it is not visible to the eye, yet it is so complex, and has taken years and years to find out about its structure and its functions. How could this occur spontaneously?
Then, the Creator must be All-Knowing to have created this whole universe, starting from atoms, cells to the whole universe. All these things cannot just happen, on their own. That is absurd, there must be a Creator, in control of everything.
So, summing that up, science is actually related to faith. There must be creator!!!
"Glory be to Him in Whose hand is the kingdom and inner dimensions of all things. (36:83" (Koran)

I find that it is difficult to disprove either. Whilst there is a lot more tangible proof for the existence of evolution, you cannot just dismiss the idea that there is some higher power that has created everything because you cannot prove that there isn't a god. You can only say that there is little (or a lot, depending on your opinion) of proof to suggest gods existence. Equally there is no proof that we didn't get sent here from aliens or something equally as crazy, they are just theories and you have to decide, which one if any you find to be most agreeable.
Personally i don't know what to believe but i think only by spending more time on the Earth and learning more can i get a better idea to base my opinions on.
An interesting debate nonetheless.

The problem with evolution is that it cannot predict anything specific in the real world. Evolution has been a word that replaces the phrase, "divine providence". We're here by divine providence...versus ... we're here through evolution. Neither say anything specific. All cause and effect are missing and are replaced by generalities.
Evolution is driven by ignorance, i.e. random chance. How did the dinosaurs disappear? By random chance, an asteroid crashed into the earth. But random chance is the same as ignorance. We don't know how an asteroid came to crash into the earth.

i find this interesting because it seem that what ever you choose to believe in there is always evidance to support it . science , chritianity ,heaven , ghosts etc . i was a believer in adam and eve coz i was a christian until i started my bio degree . it makes sence to say that people evolved from single cellular organisms but appart from spontanious generation from the Aristotle period which is (plain stupidity) i would say that it is a scientific mystry where life came from but it is proven achiologicaly that homo-sapiens have evolved steadily over time

It really depends what you were brought up believing. I don't believe in evolution, because I was brought up religiously, but I can see why other people would believe in evolution.

Believing in anything is just lazy thinking. Here's a thought. Ever try verifying?
