depends on your view of things and how you met .
i personaly think i could but i would probably try and help
them at the same time

I go through phases like that (mild depression) and tend to neglect the friendships I have. If they don't make an effort to contact me, I then feel neglected. It's very hard to pluck up courage and be the first to make contact - so yes, I'd say it is hard to be friends if I'm the one without self-respect.
