In this day a million dollars would not go very far. I would restore my house and a add few additions. I would give my family enough to help them. Then I would probably buy into some kind of franchise and make jobs for those that needed and wanted one.

I am not sure if a million will cover all of this, but perhaps 2 mill will do it. Ha! with 2 mil there will be some left to donate to my favorite charity, and taxes of course
The only lotteries and sweeps I win and I have a few billions in those are the Scams I get in my e-mail

I would pay off my son's home. Give my other son enough money to start a business. I would then take that cruise around the world I've always wanted to go on.

EDIT: Taxes are about 30%. Now we have about $700,00. I don't care what anyone thinks, THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY. Even after the house and business I mentioned I would have at least $550,00 left. The around the world trip runs about $80,000 including spending money (for me). Now I have about $470,00 left. At 63 with Social Security I can live pretty darn good. I probably wouldn't spend more than $20,000 a year. Meanwhile it will be earning dividends. I don't need to live like an heiress.

Assuming I had $1million after taxes I would pay off each of my kids houses for them ( three ) Then I would take a trip to Scotland . I would also help out a few charities here. I would still live the same as I do today.

I went to the food market after artwork in the present day. After procuring my groceries, i ended by the Starbucks interior the save and offered a huge Caramel Macchiato with 2 Splenda's. i don't often purchase from Starbucks, although that is been a protracted day.

1. Pay the taxes on that windfall! $1M is not a lot these days!

2. Buy a piece of property [studio condo] with cash to secure my roof over my head 'til I say Adieu with enough room for in home assistance should it become needed.

3. Invest the rest for my care later in life so my children will not be burdened.

4. Buy a good serviceable, good on gas auto.

CAREFUL purchases with not going 'over the top' MAY make the above possible in today's economy.

5. Whatever is left - spread amongst my kids

In one day I would give the kids some money. Pay off the house. Buy a van or some kind of vehicle that my husband could travel in and lay down for the trip and go to The Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

First meet with an attorney, then find a way to start an educational trust for some deserving students who otherwise could not afford an education. This way I can pay it forward for another person

I am not a materialistic person, so as long as my 24 year old car keeps running, I am fine...she does need some new "sneakers" though

Sleep. I would find out how much sleep I really needed. I would definitely quit my job. Even after taxes, that would be enough for us. We live very simply and just want to travel a bit. Try to keep it a secret from family members until we had everything settled.
