EBay's an auction site - they don't sell stuff directly.
I'm expecting an awful lot of stuff to be cheaper immediately after Christmas (with the obvious expections [1]), and eBay is one of the channels through which things will be sold...
... but this feels like an urban legend.
[1] The obvious exception is "popular toys." As reported by Tom Peters a couple of years ago, some major toy manufacturers have a deliberate policy of NOT having enough stock of the "must have" items before Christmas. They know that if they do that, a reasonable number of parents will buy something for Christmas AND buy the "what little Quentin really wanted but we couldn't get" in January.

Ebay doesn't sell stuff, it's a website for other people to buy/sell on.
I did read today that a lot of shops like Argos, Comet etc will be starting their online sales at one midnight past midnight on Xmas Day though.

Not a good deal really by the time you add on the postage.
Most of the shops will be selling at well below half price in the new year sales.

I heard a lot of major stores, Halfords, Argos, Marks and Spencer, etc will have their online stores open for "sale" items at 00-01 Christmas day.

Ebat doesnt BUY anything. They are just like a newspaper. The provide advertizing space for sellers, who provide products for buyers. But there is no "ebay inventory", no "ebay warehouse" or anything else.
If anyone tells you otherwise, it's a scam
Good luck

It will have been something that someone with no life has made up to get peoples hopes up and put them out of their way.
