You don't see them too often in the area where I live...Very rural. But you hear on the news where the Fire department is called out to put out fires by the ocean & when they get there people living in the woods had started them to keep warm. My mind cannot grasp that these people do not have homes... This area does have shelters for them but for some reason they prefer not to go. My heart breaks for them. & if we do happen to see a destitute person out we affer food. I've given money too but my husband dosn't like that but I feel as if they want to spend it on cigs or Booze It was my gift to them & they can choose how to spend their money. He is all for offering food though. We both count our blessings... It is very sad indeed.

Very sad. I always give any money I have in my pockets but it's never enough. I've done volunteer work at the soup kitchen in my city but I always feel like I should be doing more. And especially at Christmas, it breaks my heart. No one should be alone on the streets for the holidays.

I always have to give them something, if I'm near a shop I go in and buy them a drink and something to eat as well. I feel so sad for them, I often wonder why their life became so bad that it forced them onto the streets.

In the 21st Century we shouldn't have homeless people. But many people actually pick that life for themselves so who are we to argue. 4 Christmases ago I actually forgo my lovely cosy family Christmas and went to work for Shelter for 5 days,,,probably one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

Very sad, when we help so many people abroad, why don't we look after our own better. I met a young lad many years ago down at Brighton who was homeless because of how his step father treated him (and he had the physical and mental scars to go with it|) he opened my eyes and Ii never pre judge the homeless anymore........there are some very sad stories to be heard, if you care enough to listen

I go to the nearest fast food restaurant, and get them food....I love feeding the homeless, I even know some of their names, I have a special lady, her name is Shirley, she lives on the street and wheels a shopping cart around,,,,I remember the first time I brought her food, she asked in a sweet little voice, did you put cream and sugar in my coffee.....and I said yes, its right here,,,,she is so sweet....

Hmmmm............. sympathy for the genuine ones but to be honest, there are people who have ruined it for the real homeless and they are the 'professional beggars' who have a perfectly good home but come out 9 to 5, sit with a sign 'Hungry and homeless' and live on the generosity of others. xxxxx

I rarely see the homeless in my town, and when I do- I go buy them some fast food and give it to them. They are always so surprised but I know what it's like to not have anything, and I figure if I can afford to buy them food, it's worth my time.
