The literal translation of atheist is lack of God, AKA lack of belief in a god or gods. Therefore, you hold NO beliefs. Believing in something is the only way to get through life with hope, with all of the bad things that happen to good people and all. That is why atheism bothers believers so much I think. Hope, faith, and love are the 3 most precious things to have, and no matter how much you think so, you really can't have one without the other 2.

Well, I don't know exactly why, but I guess our world got into this whole religious fight. That's how this whole war against Iraq started! When will people just start respecting people with other beliefs?! Its their choice to think what they want, I mean, I'm a christian and I have nothing against you or anybody else!
And don't let anybody let you think that its bad, its your way of thinking, and people should respect that.

they think converting people will earn them brownie points with God? They think that if more people believe the same, they will be right? They are incapable of logic or reason?

The last one isn't entirely true. There are a few smart religious people, but they are the minority. They are usually the ones running the church.

I am a Christian and I beleive that it is always good to question everything. I am constantly questioning and testing my faith, and there are sometimes when I doubt it. But I always find answers to my questions about it. But some people believe blindly and believe you should do the same. The are lemmings, let them fall off the cliff without you. Stay sharp, question everything, accept no answer unless you've found it for yourself.

That is a difficult catch 22 to address. If you were a Christian you would be able to more clearly perceive all things both physical and meta-physical. You would then have empathy and love for all living things. This would then translate to sadness for those beautiful souls who, for lack only of accepting Jesus as their savior, would be joining you in the exquisite rapture that awaits. If a person expresses anything other than fear or sadness for you ( i.e. anger, righteous indignation etc...) they are no more in touch with God's express desires than are you so do not take it personally. Good luck and God Bless.

Why/when do you care about what other people think.
That's where you will probably find your answer.
also check out my proof of god question in my profile and tell me what you think?
I personally think that we will all come to know the truth eventually but the sooner the better in my opinion.

being true to yourself and your beliefs is the best thing to do. always.

do not let the opinions of others sway you.

(christians are easily swayed - they accept the words of their priests without doing the study or reflection themselves. that's why they are so desperate to convert everyone - they need to prove themselves right without putting any actual research, study, meditation or work into it)

Well we all have to have faith in something don't we? Your faith in the lack of God's existence is your choice, it isn't that it's a bad thing, it's that a lot of men and women believe it is a bad choice to put your faith in. That's all. It's called freedom and you have the right to be wrong if freedom is to survive. I have the right to be wrong if your freedom is to survive. A lot of men and women won't accept that either.

some of ur anwerers claimed that people with religious thoughts r not sure what we're talking about. but the reason we try to convert others is NOT because we dont know...some DO KNOW.... we care about u and want others to be guided in their "freedoms"...
i know u think ur being atheist because that's ur "freedom" although u didnt literally say it. but think about freedom...hope i leave u well with that...
