In my state the appraisal records are public and visible online so I can see the ownership history. But, just because someone else got a deal doesn't mean they have to accept a lower price. If you try to low-ball them and don't offer market rate, then someone else will. I'd focus more on what other people in the area are paying for the same house now, than what the seller bought it for in the past.

It's possible in most areas, since land transaction records normally include some indication about the price involved in the transfer.
However, I caution against using this information in any fashion relative to some sort of offer to purchase. The price the previous owner paid for the property is quite irrelevant to what you might pay for it. If that is the purpose for which you desire the information, drop that notion immediately.

Yes google search for the property appraisers office in the county that you are looking in, if it is there you may be able to search online by owner name or address. That will give you what they paid unless you are in a non-disclosure state like TEXAS. Then just call a Realtor and ask them to print out the tax roll for you it's in there.

yes the records are at the county court house, free access, and normally they have a computer that if u enter address, or name of owner it will show purchase date and list sales price and property taxes, some counties have this info on line
