I have a teddy bear I want to give them and tell them what charity or even have them choose if possible. But I don't know where to go or how to do this. Please help.

Donate the money directly to the charity; give the person the teddy bear with a note letting them know that you have made a donation in their honor at the charity in question. Contact the charity to which you want to donate, and let them take it from there.

You can visit the Oxfam website and do something very similar. You choose a gift from $5 - over $7000 and the gift is donated in that person's name to children and families in need. My friend donated books on my behalf this year and I cried when I read the card! It's a really cool idea and good on you for thinking of others at this time. If you want to give the bear to charity you could give it to your friend and simply make a card that states that this bear must be donated to the charity of their choice in honor of the Christmas spirit or donate it to your local one and have them write out a card in your friends name. The Oxfam thing is a really good way to go though. Merry Christmas!

Sounds like the Marines' Toys-for-Tots program or the Salvation Army's Christmas toy giveaway would fit the bill perfectly. Call your local Marine recruiter or Salvation Army office and talk to them. A lot of times, they will send out a card to the person, letting them know that a donation has been made in their name.

Or, you could call a local TV or radio station and see if they have a listing of charities that are accepting donations. If so, they can give you the phone number to contact the organization of your choice. Then the charity will usually either send a card out or give you a card to fill out and give to them.
