Depends on what you wanted to do with it. If you want to charge people for investigations, I would get a major in Business with a minor in Psychology (or vice versa, if possible). Both fields will provide the people experience you need when dealing with people scared or overly interested in paranormal activity, and what you need to make a living from such inquiries.
For the paranormal knowledge, I found the following article detailing the ways people have applied the field of Parapsychology to their work. .Parapsychology should be where you will find the academic approach to the paranormal (or how science deals with ghosts and their interaction with people).

Dont listen to the first guy. IF there is paranormal activity not only would you need psychology but also physics to study movement and magnetic fields. This would help you if you're willing to purchase equipment. Also some recording/audio classes wouldnt hurt if you're taping paranormal activity.
If you get to have your own show let me know! I love Most Haunted. I tried going to a haunted hotel but nothing happened. Doesnt mean i still dont believe there isnt something out there. Good luck!

Outside of writing books, giving speeches, and possibly writing some columns for magazines there is no career of paranormal studies. Most investigators offer their services free of charge (some charge expenses) and others investigate in exchange for rights to the story for publication. Thus, while not completely impossible it is very, very unlikely that you could make a living as a paranormal investigator.
I have listed the web page for the Parapsychological Association (link below) that list the education and background of several of their members. All full members hold a doctoral degree (expect to be in school a while) and most are in conventional sciences (physics, medicine, psychology, etc.). Most people in the field of parapsychology work full time for the government or a University where they teach and/or research full time in a conventional science.
What you choose to major in depends on what approach you to take to investigating and what aspect of the paranormal you wish to study. For example Raymond Moody, M.D. harshly denies being a parapsychologist (as that he is a medical doctor) was one of the first medical professionals (in modern times) to study near death visions of terminally ill patients. His book "Life After Life" is a classic among those who do claim to study parapsychology.
On the other hand Dean Radin who holds a doctoral degree in parapsychology and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering readily associates himself with parapsychology.
While one studies experience from a medical perspective the other studies from a parapsychology perspective and they study different types of experiences.

Being a demonologist might work. Then you can connect with a church, or a paranormal investigation team and get a job there. I might do the same thing when i get teh opportunity too.

Since there is no paranormal activity to discover (as it is entirely fraudulent), the only things worth studying are the reasons for continued belief in the paranormal.
In this case, a degree in psychology or sociology is your best bet.

i would start with psychology and philosophy, so that if you truly approach your education with an open mind you will see that what constitutes the bulk of paranormal research is explicable completely in terms of those phenomena...a good grounding in physics will help you understand what "fields" are and recognize that those who toss those terms around don't really understand what they are saying

Go for a BS in performance arts. You've got to look convincing when you're conning people out of their money.
ps. A crystal ball might also be a good investment.
