We started doing something different for Christmas a few years ago, just as a change to the run of the mill turkey dinner (which I do love). We do a crown roast of pork (with the little feets) with an apricot and pine nut stuffing. Then we do a cheesy, cabbage casserole and homemade cranberry sauce. Ooooh, I'm hungry now...can't wait!!!

Hi Ghost- I'm jealous of you, having Prime Rib for New Year's Eve! That sounds awesome.
My immediate family is HUGE. They are all good cooks. We will be having about 10 variety of soups, Ham, Turkey, NUMEROUS side dishes, not to mention a wonderful variety of desserts. I am making my always requested Tapioca Mandarin Orange Salad, and the Cheese Hamburger Dip with those big ol chips to eat with the dip. There will be enough food there to feed a village, and if you are in our neck of the woods, you are more than welcome to come to our Family's Christmas Dinner. It will be held on Saturday- December 29th. I do believe I will start fasting real soon, or be on a liquid only diet to prepare for the big buffet that will be served. What is best is that my Niece has a 5,000 square foot home, and all the little ones have the basement to themselves. There are so many of them, they even make ME nervous!
I want to take this opportunity to wish you the following:
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAVE A GREAT 2008!
This message is for you and yours! :-)

My husband has a bad cold and can't taste anything, so there's no point in cooking a huge Christmas dinner this year. We're going to have a small ham, mashed potatoes, a loaf of homemade bread, corn, and sliced tomatoes for dinner. Dessert will probably be a plate of cookies and some hazelnut coffee.
Merry Christmas, Ghost -- hope it's a great one for you and yours!

I will be alone, so the tradition calls for setting table for two and leaving the door unlocked, just a symbolic gesture, it means I am ready to welcome to dinner anybody who knocks on my door and invite them to share a simple meal with me...
probably some very simple meal of fish and bread...
The dinner starts when a first star is spotted in the sky...
