Hiram Bithorn (1916-1951) was the first Puerto Rican born Major League Baseball player. He played for the Chicago Cubs and later the Chicago White Sox, where he developed a career ending injury. He tried to make a comeback in the Mexican winter league. While there, he was gunned down by a corrupt police officer who was sentenced to prison for his senseless murder. In 1962, a sports coliseum in his hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico (adjacent to Roberto Clemente Coliseum, named after another San Juan native who died tragically) was named in his memory. Hiram Bithorn Stadium is a very common professional sports arena today, and was the home of the Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals) for the short year before they moved to Washington after 2004. Rumor has it that Hiram was sent back home to San Juan to be buried.

Now that I have given all that information to go on concerning Hiram Bithorn, can anyone tell me what cemetery he was buried at and any other information you have?

In the long run it might be Yadier Molina, but at this time Pudge stands alone. He is not only the best Puerto Rican-born catcher, but one of the top 3 or 4 ever and a future HOFer. Ask again when Yaddie has played for 10 to 15 years! :) (BTW, I am both a Cards and Tigers fan! :)
