My wife and I got married at a drive-thru chapel in Vegas during a camping trip. On our wedding night, there were no campgrounds with vacancy, so we had to sleep in the car on the side of the road in the middle of the desert. We ended up fighting over leg room, and I eventually ended up sleeping on the ground outside. I didn't think about it at the time being from Chicago, but I could've been bitten by a rattlesnake (they tend to come out at night). The next day our car broke down, but that's a whole other story.

Another time about a year later, we were driving from Chicago to Phoenix, and our car broke down (a different car) near Vinita, Oklahoma. Most people have probably never been there for good reason. There is only I had 1 motel in Vinita, and it's a "roach motel," and the people who stay there are more-or-less permanent residents who like peeking into the windows of their new "neighbors" at 3am. Vinita is a completely different culture from Chicago (think "Deliverance"). The next morning, we planned to get the hell out of there, come hell or highwater. We got as far as Oklahoma City (100 miles) before we broke down again. We stayed at a nice hotel, and the manager gave us a $50/night discount and excellent service after hearing about all the trouble we'd had. 2 days after we arrived in OKC, the car was fixed. We got to spend 1 day in Phoenix before we had to head back home.

Flying on Airtrain in August from Baltimore to Las Vegas and back. The planes are small and completely booked...not one free seat anywhere. On the trip back, we were told to go to gate D on the other side of the Atlanta airport. We literally ran to catch our connecting flight only to be told that we were at the wrong gate. Evidently we weren't suppose to leave the plane we were on. They wouldn't hold our flight even though we had 10 minutes to go back. The only thing they did was giving us $10 towards purchasing dinner at the airport.

When we boarded the new flight, we were delayed because the flight crew had not arrived yet. There was another group of airline attendants taking care of the check-in process as well as taking care of the pre-flight check-list.

When the actual crew arrived (15 minutes after our flight was suppose to leave), they did the same check-list again. One of the airline attendants claimed the oxygen tank near me was faulty. They called the maintenance crew out and I heard him say they only needed a new mask for the tank. It took over a half an hour to do the paperwork after he replaced a plastic mask.

We finally arrived in Baltimore 1 am the next day (the new flight was suppose to have arrived at 11 pm). I will never travel Airtran again.

Once there were crumbs on the floor, coffee stains on the bed and what we suspected to be blood in the tub of one hotel. At another, they gave our rooms, which had been reserved for months, away. Before that, our group was stuck in traffic. On that same vacation, we were hit while stopping to get gas. By the time we had filed a police report, we were over an hour delayed. Then, our van died. On the way back, someone called to tell us that one of the vehicles left behind had a flat tire! My aunt and uncle once couldn't sleep because someone kept screaming, "I'm gunna marry my uncle!"

My last 'camping trip', was one of the worst (catch the ONE part). We we on the interstate and the RV would just quit. People were flying around us and honking. We couldn't go anywhere, and we were 200 miles from home. Once we got it started we turned around and this problem kept reoccurring. It was a Sunday, nothing was open. We were 3 minutes from home when it quit the last time. Great fun. Stupid Fords.
